- Minimum age: 10 years old
What will I do?
The new specialty is based on the concept of a two-part course. In this way, successful results can be achieved very quickly. Working with the camera also guarantees an additional feeling of achievement, since the results that this experience of success is built on can be seen immediately. The course is made up of the following steps:
Level 1:
- Point-and-shoot cameras and their practicabilities
- White balancing
- Color filters
- Taking photographs without external flash
Level 2:
- Using histograms
- File formats
- Image resolution
- Picture composition
- Organisation and archiving
Practical work on and with the camera accompanies the training program. And this, most importantly, underwater, of course.
Prerequisite for taking part in level 1 of the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty is the successful completion of a PADI Open Water Diver course (or higher) and, for level 2, the successful completion of level 1.
Snorklers can also take part in the course and enroll for both levels 1 and 2. Upon completion, they will however receive a so-called non-diver certificate.

How long will it take? Each of the two levels takes four hours
What will I need? Digital Underwater Photography Pak, which includes manual & slate
